Does WeGene have a "relative finder" feature to connect with DNA family?

I am American. I have an adopted daughter adopted from an orphanage in Guizhou, China. We are looking for her birth family in China. She already has a DNA kit with 23andme, but the 23andme "relative finder" feature only connected her with distant relatives (mostly 5th cousins in USA who were also adopted from China).

Does WeGene have a feature to connect and communicate with DNA relatives? I think we would have better luck finding our adopted daughter's birth family on a Chinese DNA site.

As WeGene is a very new firm on the market for DNA testing, I believe it does not have a DNA Relative Finder yet. However, as the database constantly expands this function will eventually be added. I see much potential in WeGene to become a major competitor once it has a strong resesrch base with enough samples.
What I like the most about this company is that it specializes in testing individuals of Chinese descent. Most other companies such as 23andMe, FTDNA and AncestryDNA etc. mainly cater towards those of European descent and lack a lot of data on Asians. I believe there will be increasing demand in Asia for personal genome services, and perhaps WeGene would be at the vanguard.

An idea to increase revenue for WeGene: begin matching DNA relatives and charge a fee ($25-$50 U.S.) for users to upload their genomes from 23andme.

Over 70,000 Chinese children have been adopted to the U.S., plus others to European countries. Many of these adoptees are searching for their birth families with 23andme, but almost none of these adoptees have found their biological families. It is illegal to mail DNA samples from mainland China to the United States, so very few Chinese citizens are in the 23andme database.

Since WeGene is leading the way for DNA testing within China, I believe thousands of Chinese-born adoptees would pay $25-$50 to upload their 23andme genomes to WeGene if WeGene would match DNA relatives. This is a golden opportunity for adoptees to be reunited with their lost Chinese roots.

23andMe and most other DNA testing companies out there do not have a large enough database of samples from Asian populations. I don't see that many Asians on 23andMe. I'm glad WeGene is China's first domestic personal genomics service. I see an eventual expansion of WeGene to more regions of Asia (East, Southeast, South). When it reaches that point, individuals of Asian descent would no longer need to test with US and European based companies.

Isn't that what the https://www.wegene.com/dna_family/ page is supposed to be for now?

However Wegene says 无法使用该功能. I don't know if it's because my matches are not fully processed yet or if it's not available for imported data or simply didn't launch for anyone yet.

GGal，as you see， we totally a new DNA site，there is a tiny database ，may can't find the match data for your daughter,but I would be glad to help you. Once we find cousins match or something better , you should get a Email from WeGene. At first you need import your daughter's data of 23andme.

Thank you for replying, everyone! John, thank you for offering to help and for telling me about the government DNA database. I will keep that in mind. We don't have reason to believe she was abducted, but it is a possibility. Her orphanage file said she was abandoned as an 8 week old baby, and we don't believe illness or "special needs" was a reason for abandonment. She had developmental delays from living as an orphan, but she caught up quickly after being adopted. She is now perfectly healthy.

The good volunteers at Baobeihuija have created a post with our daughter's pictures and information, but so far we have no leads from there. I'm excited about the growth of WeGene since there will be MANY more Chinese members than on 23andme. 23andme does not have many since it is technically illegal for DNA samples to leave China.

I am excited that it will be possible to see relative matches sometime this year. My daughters were both adopted from China, in 2010 and 2014.

Our daughter was adopted from the Zhuzhou SWI (Hunan)in 2002. She may or may not be from that area. We are hoping that DNA will connect her to her birth family. She has wanted to connect with them for a while. A relative finder feature would be invaluable to all those who are seeking to locate relatives in China. This website gives hope to someday reaching those birth families.

Keep going! Tonight I will upload my raw data from 23andMe to here. I have tried GEDmatch but found it confusing, as different calculators on there use different methods and different reference populations.
